Students with Biology as one of their subjects in 12th science are eligible to get admission in Microbiology. Study of Microbiology started in KBS Commerce & NATARAJ Professional Sciences College, in the year 2014-2015 with the Master degree program M.Sc. Microbiology of two year. Later, in the academic year 2016-2017, the college started three-year Bachelor Degree Program in the subject of Microbiology. The department has competent and devoted teaching faculty and supportive non – teaching staff.
The Department provides ample scope to students and faculties for academics and research. The class and laboratory size is kept large enough to provide a vibrant learning environment. Postgraduate students in the Department gain valuable research experience through research project (Dissertation), which is practical training of the subject, offered as a part of the course curriculum. The research work of the student is presented in various national and international conferences as well as published in various reputed research journal every year.
The department is well-equipped with modern laboratories to provide quality teaching and research opportunities for students. The Department has the facilities like UV-Visible Single beam Spectrophotometer, UV-Visible double beam Spectrophotometer, Cooling Centrifuge, centrifuge, microcentrifuge, Autoclave, Light microscope, Water Bath, Orbital Shaker Incubator, Bacteriological Incubator, BOD incubator, Thermal cycler, Gel doc system, Fermenter, Sonicator Hot Air Oven, Refrigerator, Quick freezer, pH meter, Weighing balance, Magnetic stirrer, Vortex and Gel electrophoresis apparatus, UV chamber etc.
