Medical Laboratory Technology is an Allied Health specialty concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases through the use of clinical laboratory tests. Medical laboratory Technologists perform complex and varied laboratory analysis, and use critical thinking skills in determining the accuracy and validity of test results. They recognize the interdependency of testing information and possess the knowledge of physiologic and pathologic conditions affecting results in order to support medical decisions. In diverse health care settings, clinical laboratory scientists provide test results used by such practitioners as physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician’s assistants, in determining: the presence, extent, and causes of disease; monitoring therapy; and evaluating testing protocols to ensure optimum and safe public health applications. Medical laboratory technology was established in the year 2001-2002. The programme of undergraduate aims to provide efficient and balanced training in laboratory medicine with well established facilities. Students receive a stimulating, challenging and supportive academic experience alongside a fulfilling and enjoyable social life.
